Tuition & Fees

There is a yearly registration fee of $40.00 per family. Registration fees are not refundable. Your registration fee holds your place in the class, covers insurance per student for the season, data input and maintenance. Please see your registration packet for tuition fees.

This season tuition is based on a 34-week session, including 1.5 additional weeks for inclement weather for a total of 35.5 weeks. There are 10 payments, September thru June, now referred to as payments 1-10. Tuition is due on the FIRST of each month with a grace period extending through the TENTH day of each month September thru June. A $10.00 late fee will be added to your montly tuition if paid after the tenth day of the month. This includes if the studio is closed for any reason (i.e. regular hours, holidays, weekends, etc). Tuition is to be paid in cash or debit/CC (auto-withdrawal only). Cash payments are to be in a envelope labeled with your childs’ name and total and placed in the tuition box beside the front door. Please use exact change only as the studio does not keep cash on site. Receipts for cash payments will be available 1 week after payment is submitted in the basket in the office. Southside Ballet no longer accepts checks for tuition payments. A $10.00 LATE FEE IS MANDATORY FOR ALL LATE PAYMENTS. IF ABSENT, PLEASE MAIL YOUR PAYMENT AS A MONEY ORDER OR CERTIFIED CHECK (1408 South Church Street, Smithfield VA 23430.) In addition, if tuition and late fees are not paid by the twentieth of the month the student will not be permitted to return to class or perform in the June Recital until ALL outstanding balances have been paid, DEADLINE June 1, 2018. Automatic payments will be transferred on the first of each month.

There are no refunds or carryover of tuition into the following month. Dancers may not “skip” or “take off” a month. Payment is due whether absent or present in class. Make up lessons may be arranged if a suitable class is available.

“I understand that I must give 30 days written notice, via the withdrawal form available at the studio, to the director, Meredith S. Parks if I decide to no longer attend classes. I agree to pay all fees and tuition due within 30 days of my notice. I understand that NO REFUNDS for tuition, costume fees, recital fees, and any other fees will be given. I agree to pay all costs and a reasonable sum on account of attorney’s fees in connection with any action necessary to collect any amounts past due.”

Attendance & Promptness

Punctuality is stressed. The lesson should be learned in its entirety. Dance is ensemble based work. Each member of the ensemble is an essential element and must be prepared. Prompt regular attendance is very important to performance. Attendance is kept and the instructor reserves the right to require private lessons at the regular hourly rate OR remove a student from any performances for excessive absences, no refunds will be given.

Inclement Weather

Generally, when ISLE OF WIGHT COUNTY SCHOOLS are closed or released early due to bad weather, the studio will also be closed. I will post to our Facebook Page and send a mass email with cancellation information if internet is available. I will also send out a message using our “Remind” app that can be downloaded onto your cell phone. Additional forms of communication may be added throughout the season. Makeup lessons will be scheduled as needed. We have 1.5 weeks built into the schedule for inclement weather days.

Community Service Preformances

Southside Ballet Studio participates in many community service performances throughout the year and we are excited to include you! These are not mandatory but highly encouraged as we believe that giving back to our community through sharing our gift of dance is our responsibility. Two performances that most dancers will participate in include our Nursing Home Weeks: December 11 – 15 & May 14 – 18. Dancers will perform on the night of their regular classes.
