Southside Ballet dancers have the opportunity to perform in our annual production of "Cinderella."
The Cinderella ballet premiered in 1945 at the Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow, Russia. The production follows the journey of a mistreated young woman whose life is transformed by her Fairy Godmother's magic, allowing her to attend a royal ball under a strict midnight deadline. Beyond the romance and the iconic glass slipper, the ballet is celebrated for its comedic elements, particularly the theatrical, often satirical roles of the stepmother and stepsisters.Today, Cinderella remains a global favorite for its vibrant orchestration and spectacular visual transformations. It stands as a brilliant showcase for expressive acting and technical virtuosity, offering a lighter, more humorous alternative to darker romantic ballets.
